Brian Richard, M.D.

Brian Richard, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon at Southern Oregon Orthopedics. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity, with training in complex fracture care, post-traumatic reconstruction, shoulder and elbow arthroplasty and arthroscopy, microsurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and acute and degenerative hand conditions.

Dr. Richard earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before receiving his Doctor of Medicine with Distinction from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was also recognized as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Arizona–Tucson and pursued advanced fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Orlando Health.

Dr. Richard is committed to delivering high-quality, individualized care while helping patients regain function and return to the activities that are important to them. His approach combines specialized surgical training with compassionate care and a focus on each patient’s individual needs and treatment goals.

In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Richard has contributed to orthopedic research and publications covering topics in trauma, upper extremity surgery, joint replacement, and infection following orthopedic procedures. He is also proficient in Spanish, allowing him to communicate with a broader range of patients and families.
