About
Daniel Cowley, D.O., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Cowley joined the Southern Oregon Orthopedics team in August of 2022, and sees patients at the practice’s new Grants Pass location. Prior to joining Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Dr Cowley had been practicing in Grants Pass since 2017.
Dr. Cowley performs outpatient, Direct Anterior Total Hip replacements as well as partial and total knee replacement surgeries. Dr Cowley utilizes the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution for total hip and total knee replacement surgeries when appropriately indicated. Dr. Cowley and his team are experienced in complex or complicated hip and knee conditions, as well as revision procedures. Dr. Cowley operates out of Grants Pass as well as Southern Oregon Orthopedics’ new outpatient surgery center in Central Point.
Dr. Cowley attended the United States Air Force Academy and graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He obtained his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at LECOM Health in Erie, Pennsylvania. Upon completing his residency, he then completed additional fellowship training in adult joint reconstruction at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There he concentrated on direct anterior total hip replacements and revision arthroplasty surgeries.
Dr. Cowley is experienced in a wide range of hip and knee conditions; he and his team of professionals are dedicated to the well-being of their patients. He considers one of his greatest strengths to be his communication skills, both with his patients and with his Southern Oregon Orthopedics staff and colleagues. He strives to ensure he understands his patient’s goals, and values the opportunity to learn about his patients and hear stories about their personal journeys.
Dr. Cowley, his wife Nicole, who is also a physician, and three children have lived in Southern Oregon for over the past six years. He is dedicated to his patients and to the health of his community. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. They can be seen hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, hunting and camping.
