Laurie Fritz, P.T.
Hey I am Laurie Fritz and I am a ways from home growing up in Clearwater, Florida where my mother, father and 3 siblings still reside. I moved to Chicago to pursue my career as a Physical Therapist after receiving my Associates of Science at St. Petersburg Jr College. I received my BS in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology at UIC. I Then went to GSU for my Masters in Physical Therapy outside of Chicago in University Park.
My career started me in the direction as an Architect but changed to PT due to my Grandmother requiring a hip replacement. I had no understanding of what PT was until further conversations with nurses and her doctors. I was intrigued of this profession and further researched and started adding more sciences to my schedule and after a year realized I wanted to be a PT. After completing my studies, I took time to travel and train as a Triathlete. I next moved moved to Boulder Colorado to train and work as a PT. I have competed in 17 Ironmans and continue to enjoy the outdoors being in the water, riding my bike on road or gravel to running and hiking 14’ers. My little side kick that enjoys in my adventures is my Toy Fox Terrier, Ruby. She is a rescue who could not do stairs on her own to being able to stay at my heels for our hikes in the mountains, yes even the 14’ers.
Being a PT is a profession that is not just rewarding and fulfilling but making a difference in a persons and families lives. I have worked in school settings, inpatient rehab, home health and outpatient working with ages from one month to 100 years of age. The connections and friendships I have made during my 14 years as a PT with co-workers and those I have treated comforts me to know I am doing what I love and have a passion to continue to grow in this field.
